Taking Aim
By Stephan Smith
I'm takin' aim
at the next world
You're in the way
I'm takin' aim at the next world, don'tcha see?
You read the scriptures just like me
But I look around and all I see is inequality
I can't believe this is the 21st century!
And so I'm freakin', yeah, I got a right to be
'cause men standing in the way doin' it wrong with me
building fortunes on the backs of others' poverty
They call it liberty and think I'll take it quietly
Well I can't, no I aint, I'm on a mission
Part of a crowd comin' up that's done with wishin'
I'm taking aim at politicians and musicians
Even priests and CEO's are in my line of vision
I figure you nervous at these words that give a shock
Guess what, Goliath, you're head's about to take a rock
All you ever did was talk the talk
Now it's time to walk
I'm takin' aim
at the next world
You're in the way
I'm takin' aim
at the next world
You're in the way
Yeah, you've had your day
In the neighbor, every man's forever free
but don't you see you're in the way,
and I'm takin' aim
I'm taking aim you're in the way you hear what I say this is no play you go I stay
you had your day now your song's gone away your skies are grey get down and pray
you're in the way and I'm takin' aim
Like a hip hop cowboy yeah I'm twisted
I'm the American you wish never existed
I've been here all along, you just missed it
Every day there's more of who won't get enlisted
to fight your wars abroad, fall for your fraud
Like the way you work for Satan in the name of God
misreportin', distortin', and contortin' words
First I came in peace but now I got a sword
Attorneys General jerkin' off the men with dollar bills
to keep the people separated and the prisons filled
Hey oh yes guess what I will go there
opposed to rappers who just build their own mansions on the hill
Is this clear? Have you figured out your own skin?
You made your bed, now it's time for you to lie in fear
You're the blind who lead the blind, you can't steer!
Have you figured out what's goin' on here?
I'm taking aim
at the next world
You're in the way
In the Air
By Stephan Smith
Yeah somethin' in the air
Going down comin round spreadin everywhere
agitatin people like the crack of a span
cause they can't find nothing but they feel it in the air
yeah can you feel it out there
come on everybody put your hands in the air
lift up your legs like you're goin' up the stairs
cause you got to get up in it when there's somethin in the air
come all you critics listen to my mantra
you get egg if y' try to fit me in the genre
cause I'm freakin' out I got to sing and shout
totell you bout all the things my eyes have seen
since I peeled them up off the corporate video screen
nuns with drums marchin' against columns of soldiers with guns
down the street with some crazy cheerleaders dancin' in frenzy to the beat
young man shot down by cops
for tryin' to stop the bad crop comin' from the top
nonviolently cause he would not go silently
all the way from Argentina to Prague
they're fightin' international governmental smog
in the days when it gets so bad,
youth raised sad, lots of people just going mad
when they can't breathe the air cause the air ain't clean
charge you more for water then they do for gasoline
enough to make the mother's man and woman use a brain
and scream let out a scream cause it's too much to bear
don't strike a match it might explode around here
Yeah somethin' in the air
Going down comin round spreadin everywhere
agitatin people like the crack of a span
cause they can't find nothing but they feel it in the air
yeah can you feel it out there
come on everybody put your hands in the air
lift up your legs like you're goin' up the stairs
cause you got to get up in it when there's somethin in the air
while the trees come down in the Amazon
young kids gettin' killed fighting pinks with stones
by soldiers like drones look out here come the clones
spendin' all day on the phone like they're scared to be alone
that's why so many kids are flippin lids
the rebels trying to get off the grid
cause it's corrupt it's bound to erupt like a treadmill it just won't stop
the world wants peace but the bombs still drop
it's like just what corporate cray you can hear them say
what the hey? Let's may a heyday of this global mayday
and make it into great bag supermax payday
but in reality eveyone's takin' a loss
the problem is no on ehere can find the boss to blame
it's insane he's hidin' in the rafters like after gettin' worse faster and faster
it's time to shake this joint with laughter
Ay Caramba bring on the samba make the people stop and stare
turn off the TV jump off the chairs
Water water everywhere not a drop to drink
so much information it's impossible to think
I'm on the brink see the link everybody sees a shrink
to keep cool while the Titanic sinks don't blink
and back at home they can't get home grown no more
they got seeds designed so they won't grow
the heartland and not one fresh tomato
unless you get to the store it blows
cause if you try to disrupt the flow
from your pocket to the man you'll end up in the can
all because you're trying to stop the world from hittin' the fan
but in Brazil they got people takin' over private land
and in India they gonna take over another dam
Kablam! the bombs drop in the Sahara sand
while the Clear Channel radio plays another boy band?
but Mr. Jones, he don't understand,
he just wants to reach for his favorite brand
it's like he can't connect his brain to his hand
annoucing pronouncing the tension is mounting
D-day and counting everybody here start bouncing
Break the Bread
By Stephan Smith
Every heart and every mind knows everything is one
Those who deny this truth are hurting everyone
Until the people srpead it all out equally
No way mankind can say that everyone is free
Break the bread
Break the bread
Break the bread
Break the bread and pass it round
Rich man has many things says they are not mine
Poor man work just as hard for the same amount of time
Rich man he swears my life and time are greater work
As long as this goes on, never peace on earth
Break the bread
Break the bread
Break the bread
Break the bread and pass it round
There's just one table where we all sit down for food
What man would take more than his share if he were good
How can the food be any better than the sea
What if the whole world broke the bread, you and me
Break the bread
Break the bread
Break the bread
Break the bread and pass it round
Break the bread
Break the bread and pass it round
Break the bread
Break the bread and pass it round.
World To Come
By Stephan Smith
Oh long ago yeah go down old Anna
tell it from the mountain
'cause up from the ashes I had a vision
that sings about the world to come
all of the prophets work is done
the mystery laid bare before everyone
the silent multitude will rise
the wind will howl like a newborn cries
the judge will face the judgement day
the path less taken will become the only way
and if you ask how I know this is true
ain't it all been shown to you?
Cause I'm a witness I just tell it like I see
ain't you a witness just like me
Oh long ago yeah go down old Anna
tell it from the mountain
'cause up from the ashes I had a vision
that sings about the world to come
there's nothing new they said that ain't been said before
the key's in the lock, the future is an open door
everyone is the chosen one
it is written and waits to be done
the men of war will be the ones
seeking profit underneath the sun
and if you ask how I know this is true
ain't it all been shown to you?
I'm just a witness I just tell it like I see
ain't you a witness just like me?
Oh long ago yeah go down old Anna
and tell it from the mountain
'Cause up from the ashes I had a vision
that sings about the world to come
Proclaiming Jubilee
By Stephan Smith
I am just a young man with my task ahead of me
To fan the flames of freedom and reclaim history
And open up the doors to equal opportunity
To hold the whole world in our hands proclaiming Jubilee
Proclaiming Jubilee
Come tie my hands behind my back and throw me in some cell
For there's not a law in heaven to drag us down to hell
For stopping all the wheels of time in the name of equality
To hold the whole world in our hands proclaiming Jubilee
Proclaiming Jubilee
Well there's some who'll want to see us hung and some to buy our song
But there's many more among us who'll join the rising throng
To sing our tune and dance around through all creation's streets
To hold the whole world in our hands proclaiming Jubilee
Proclaiming Jubilee
Business
By Stephan Smith
Business business everywhere runs the country through your hair
lay my life on the line to dare all these posers everywhere
Business business in your face profit making every place
Even rebel music's laced Time to give those fakes a taste
Who made business of the earth, determined its godly worth?
Time to put it in a hearse before this place really bursts
Business business everywhere
babies use the word before they learn to walk the stairs
Anybody here say World Trade Organization
perpetuating exploitatin' peoples tribes and nations
Let's see if we can see how far back bad business started
long before the Pharoahs and the day the sea was parted
When Moses led the slaves through the waves
to be saved but tell me did things really change?
Look around the world the top down it's gettin' awful strange
Bad business gettin' more people in a tizziness
Makes 'em want to blow up Babylon so high it's dizziness
Business at the center of the WTO,
World Trade what? Oh
WTC Center, you know, a disaster
Business making pollution grow faster
made a crook of the doctor and the pastor
Took the President and made of him a bastard
and sells to you, the rip off, rap on your ghetto blaster
Who wants money first and justice second?
I'm wreckin' this! Throw the merchants outa church, they're beggin
for a king-size down fall,
beggars in the street because of you all
Let it be known that dirty business made the World Trade fall
not terrorisim, but businessism itself,
like the media puttin' war flicks on your shelf
A lot of wealth in your daily news and TV too
papers capers Congressmen or just escapers, it's true
Yeah, mmm, while the refugees go:
Business business everywhere ...
Maybe I can put this differently
The New World Worder's gonna be heard just by bein' me
Cause I ain't seen nothin' but hype, no controversy
And so it looks like this time it might have to be me
So yeah confidentially it's my
personal business how the rock star gets fame
Exploitin' poor folks to get rich, so tell me who's to blame?
Shame on you, you poser! Wake up, party's over!
Kill the Land Rover Army buggy sold the world over
Yeah, the world it's soon to be over,
the way this deal is goin down
That's why it's my
personal business how the Bush and Cheney families
been doin' business with the Hussein Laden families
and get in fights when things don't go quite right, you see
and whip up wars when they need profits for the military
the chickens already came home to roost
the cat is out the bag with teeth sharpenin' on the truth
but even if the dirty businessmen get their wars
the truth been told and will be known and grown forever more
so if anybody doubts, look how Nero's remembered
every liar finally in time to God surrenders
Yeah, while the refugees go:
Business business everywhere ...
The Darling Son
By Stephan Smith
Where did you get the blood on your shirt? Son, please talk to me
It's only a stain from a game we play and play most harmlessly
Where did you get that gun in your hand? Son, please talk to me
I got it from the children's store of toys right down the street
Oh that there blood it is too real. Son, please talk to me
And that there gun is made of steel. My two eyes can see
Oh mother, true, you are no fool. Your two eyes can see
For the blood is of my friends at school I killed most vengefully
And mother, true, you are so wise. Your two eyes can see
For this here gun it is the one I did take with me
Oh where oh where did you get that gun? Son, please talk to me
I got it from your husband, mom, who rarely talks to me
But where did you learn to be so cruel? Son, please talk to me
I learned it in the books at school that taught me history
But where did you learn to kill my son? Son, please talk to me
I learned it from this great, great land that kills across the sea
What will you do now my darling child? Son, please talk to me
I'm going where the air is mild for all eternity
But, where will you go my only one? Son, please talk to me
I'm going far beyond the sun where no one's eyes can see
The Bell
By Stephan Smith
"Oh where are you going?" said the man at his desk
"I'm going to a new world," said the child and he stood
And he stood, and he stood, and t'were well that he stood
"I'm going to a new world," said the child and he stood
"Oh I'm sounding drums of war," said the man at his desk
"Oh, I will not fight your war," said the child and he stood
And he stood, and he stood, and t'were well that he stood
"I will not fight your war," said the child and he stood
"Oh, but don't you love your country?" said the man at his desk
"Yes, I do, but you don't," said the child and he stood
And he stood, and he stood, and t'were well that he stood
"I do but you don't," said the child and he stood
"Oh, but do you know the truth?" said the man at his desk
"Yes, you lie and call it truth," said the child and he stood
And he stood, and he stood, and t'were well that he stood
"You lie and call it truth," said the child and he stood
"Oh, you must be scared to die," said the man at his desk
"No, I'm prepared and you're scared," said the child and he stood
And he stood, and he stood, and t'were well that he stood
"I'm prepared and you're scared," said the child and he stood
"Oh, I think I hear a bell," said the man at his desk
"Yes, it's ringing you to hell," said the child and he stood
And he stood, and he stood, and t'were well that he stood
"Yes, it's ringing you to hell," said the child and he stood
Now's The Time
By Stephan Smith
When the train comes thrugh the station you will hear the whistle blow
and you will not need no television or computer to know
cause you'll feel it in your heart and you'll know it in your soul
and the wheels inside your brain will start to squeal and then to roll
All aboard, man
the time has come
Don't be looking for made-up words
you're goin to hear somethin' you never heard
I'm makin' it all up on the spot
you can like it or you'll not
I don't care what you might say
Cause I wanna do something today
I ain't waiting for another time
I think this one's just right fine
Hey now hear me sing
Hey I'm gonna shake my shake my thing
Cause mm, now, now's the time, n-now's the time
When the borders between nations start to crumble and to fall
and you know that somewhere you can hear a distant call
and it's echoing all the songs inside your head that you have sung
and you're lookin' around and the same old words are on the tip of every tongue
well ain't it obvious that just about everyone agrees
the time has come for all of us to get together and be free
All aboard now, the time has come
If anyone should ask you where i have sittin all around played this thing
I just make it all I live ain't nothin' I get rid
it come and flows like out my mouth and nose like
a river down down inside all to the Lower East Side
all the way to Europe too down to Japan make me true
I'm gonna shake my shake my thing
all for the whole world to sing
oh no ain't no waiting for some other kind of day
I wanna do something right now
I wanna get it out today
mmm hmm ah ahh
when the train comes to the station you will hear the whistle blow
and you will not need nothin to know
cause you'll hear it in your heart and you'll feel it in your soul
and the wheels inside your brain will start to tremble and to roll
all aboard the time has come
now's the time
All Together Now
By Stephan Smith
From the frog when he jumped and he ran into a toad
on a one way street to the open road
from the redwoods growing up into the sky
to the DC streets where the homeless lie
to the policeman wonderin' who he's workin' for
to the soldier wishin' that there wasn't any war
and from Harlem to the heartland
in digital time with some grains of sand
been a long time runnin'
but a longer time comin'
and I know now won't be very long
before we are finally joined in song
together now
all together now
all together now
From a hiphop singer with machinery
to my niece learnin' harp sittin' on my knee
to a farmer puttin' his land for sale
to Mumia Jumail speakin' from his jail
to an honest man who came in last
to the angry one who feels outcast
by a world of competition
when we all are last makes it hard to be friends
and while churches burn down in Birmingham
all the way from Baghdad and Jerusalem
it's been a long time running
but a longer time comin'
but I know now won't be very long
before we are finally joined in song
together now
all together now
all together now
Well I wrote this song in the town of New York
one heck of a place to find honest work
with my hands all busted from fixing cars
when I know I'm better at playing guitar
and I heard a rap singer singin' Join Your Hands
over top an AM radio playing This is Your Land
from a peaceful nation under groove
to a whole wide world singin' We Shall Not Be Moved
and it all started soundin' like one big song
and I know right now it won't be very long
before we are singin' together
all together now
all together now
